Guidance Notes
to assist in the completion of the STD Register membership application form
The STD Register has teamed up with CrossMember which already provides an online database and membership application system for several dozen other car clubs. As such, the application form has been set up to be of use to a wide range of clubs.
The application form consists of two parts: the members and the cars. We hope that you will find the form easy to follow and complete, nevertheless, we set out below some comments which on occasion we feel might be helpful particularly in the case of the cars section.
When you open the page you will first see the fields for your own details and you will be able to amend any of these later, eg. if you move house. Please note that fields which have a bold green border must be completed. Other fields are optional.
One of the features of the system is that it allows the officers to contact members on a regional basis. For this reason it is important that you put each line of your address in a separate field. If your address includes a village or suburb each should have its own field and the postcode must go in the space provided.
There are two spaces for Telephone: Telephone and Other Telephone. Please put your preferred number, eg your cell phone, in the first space.
Most members just show their spouse or partner as Family Members and you can specify how they should be described. If you have young children you can also add them.
The Vehicles section should next be completed before you move on to your subscription. If you don’t have a vehicle please use our Contact form just to let us know your interest in our cars.
Please do NOT use a “?” to indicate anything unknown or uncertainty. Just leave it blank. The system does not like a ? !
The system requires a DVLA or foreign Registration number. If your car does not have a current registration, please enter NONEXXX. You will not be the only one without a number so our marque registrar will edit this to show our next available unregistered number eg NONE015. If you subsequently obtain an official registration for your car, you will be able to edit this at the time.
For the Make, please select from the drop-down list.
If possible, please enter the Model as it was described by the manufacturer eg 20/60. Our registrars will check and correct this if necessary.
Please leave Type blank as we are not using this field.
Date First Registered; if you do not know the exact date please enter 01/01/19xx so that it will pick up the year first registered.
If you know the Chassis and Engine Numbers please enter the number as stamped on the chassis or engine. Do not use (brackets) etc or add any comments.
If you know the Engine Size please enter it in cc without a comma eg. 2040
Leave the Fuel field blank as all our cars use petrol.
Please aim to use Body Type terms similar to those originally applicable to your marque but note that our registrars will review these to ensure that the correct term is used.
The main Colour of the car should be shown ignoring the wing colour.
Select your Gearbox type and car Condition from the drop-down lists.
The above fields, where they are not drop-down selections, will take up to 45 alpha numeric characters. However you will find ample space, if required, in the Modifications and Special Features fields.
When you are done with your vehicle, press Save which will take you back to the membership page.
UK members should leave the Membership Type as “Full”.
In the first year of membership the subscription rate is reduced by 50% for those joining in the second half of the year.
If you have a UK bank account, please select Direct Debit. You will then automatically be charged for your first and future subscriptions. This greatly simplifies administration of membership subscriptions by our volunteer club officers. All the usual direct debit protections apply and you can cancel at any time.
The PayPal option is designed ONLY for overseas members.
We ask that you please do not select PayPal unless you are an overseas applicant without a UK bank account. If you are a non-UK resident and you do not have a UK bank account, then you may select PayPal and send your subscription to: TreasurerSTD at hotmail.com – written like this to foil spammers.
IMPORTANT: Once you have applied to join, please ensure that you pay your sub within two weeks. If you do not arrange to pay your sub within this time, the systems will delete your record and you will have to re-apply from scratch.
Once you have submitted your application, you can check and, if required, amend your details or those of your car at any time. If you make any changes, we will be very grateful if you would kindly use our Contact Form to send the briefest of messages to advise us.
Use this link to view your own record after you have joined: https://crossmember.co.uk/my-membership/?club=std
You will require your registered email address and a one-time URL code will be sent to that address. You can then click it, or copy and paste it into your browser, to view your file.
Please feel free to use our Contact Form if any issues arise which are not covered in these notes.
